About Me
Hi, I’m Lauren
I am a wife of a diplomat and we are currently living in South Africa with our two girls. After we got married, we had a long journey to have our first baby, Lyra. She is an IVF baby and when she came along we were so grateful that our greatest wish had finally come true. Lyra was born at the height of the pandemic which meant we were chucked in at the deep end with limited support. I found myself completely overwhelmed with conflicting information about baby and toddler sleep.
Fast forward three years and we welcomed Seren, our surprise natural baby. We moved to South Africa when I was three months pregnant with Seren and when I gave birth to her, I didn’t have any family to lean on for support, much like when we had Lyra in 2020.
How I Can Help You
Since having Lyra, I have always had a passion for the science behind sleep and quickly became a strong believer in that old saying “sleep breeds sleep”! I found myself endlessly researching whenever we hit a regression or disturbed nights with no obvious reason. When Seren came along, with very limited family support living overseas and with a toddler to look after too, I quickly found that my mental health really began to suffer.
I knew I needed help before things really started to spiral, so I reached out to a sleep consultant. I realised that it was a life transforming moment for us and so I commenced my training to become a sleep consultant myself, with The Sleep Academy.
I do not believe in cry it out - babies cry for a reason and we need to respond to that and offer comfort. I do, however, also believe that there are so many gentle ways to sleep train and relatively small changes that can be made to hugely improve sleep. Parents have a tough enough job as it is without having to survive on a few hours sleep. I am passionate about helping parents in this situation to reach YOUR sleep goals.
